Two men have been given prison sentences after being found with nearly 200 wraps of cocaine and heroin.
Dvontre McCalla, 27, and Derya Tuzen, 25, were sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court for a total of more than six years after admitting multiple drug-related offences.
The pair were arrested in Gillingham on April 5 after officers spotted two known drug users heading towards them.
When one shouted about the officer’s presence, McCalla was seen throwing a mobile phone in a bush in Great Lines Heritage Park, while Tuzen disposed of a package in the same place.
Both were detained and searched and a lock-knife was seized from McCalla’s waistband.
After admitting he had hidden drugs in his clothing, a plastic bag with 17 wraps of crack cocaine and 30 deals of heroin were also recovered.
Police found the package he had disposed of which contained 88 wraps of crack cocaine and 64 deals of heroin.
Police also seized a knife from Tuzen’s pocket, two mobile phones and a quantity of cash.
McCalla, of Davenport Road, Hither Green in London and Tuzen, of Purchese Street, Camden Town in London, were later charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply, possession of heroin with intent to supply and possessing a knife in a public place.
McCalla was also charged with possession of criminal property in the form of cash.
Both men pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and, on Tuesday (September 26), McCalla was jailed for a total of four years and six months.
Meanwhile Tuzen received a prison sentence of one year and ten months, suspended for two years.
PC Hannah Hills, of Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team, said: "These two criminals thought they could come to Medway and deal class A drugs without any chance of being arrested.
"Their confidence was misplaced as our local constables are always alert for suspicious behaviour and in this case, quickly spotted and detained the suspects.
"Both were also carrying knives whilst in possession of heroin and crack cocaine and these were swiftly seized by the arresting officers.
"Our message to county line dealers is clear: 'Travel to Kent to supply drugs and it is only a matter of time before you are brought before the court to answer for your crimes.’"
