Police were called following the crash on Junction 3 of the motorway, after two cars collided.

The police helicopter was spotted hovering overhead as the sliproad was blocked off.

The two drivers were injured and taken to hospital, where one remains with serious injuries.

It was then discovered that one of the cars that had collided had been stolen from Whitstable earlier that day.

Officers had been notified of the theft from a driveway in St Johns Road during the early hours, and confirmed that it was one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Shane Seymour has since been charged with burglary, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and theft of a motor vehicle.

The 29-year-old, from London, is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.
