A homeless man who slept under a motorway flyover for more than a week has returned.
The man, thought to be in his 60s and from Hungary, set up camp under the motorway bridge at junction 2 for Cuxton and Strood, complete with a camping chair and chiminea at the side of the road.
He was moved to a safer location last week, but motorists have seen him on the other side of the road.
It has been suggested he has been in the country since April, looking for his wife and child.
Concerned passersby have offered him food and water - one person was spotted delivering a meal from a nearby fast food restaurant - but he refused their offers of help.
He has been given shaving kits and was seen shaving from a bucket. He also appears to be well dressed and people have said on social media he is always smiling when they drive past.
However piles of his rubbish have started to build up at the side of the road.
Police were told of his whereabouts last week and received several reports of concern for his welfare.
Martin Sissons, director of homeless charity Emmaus Medway, said: “People have slept under the motorway in the past because they are left alone and it is safe for them.
“He would need to contact Medway Council who would house him. He needs to present himself to the council at Kingsley House, Gillingham.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police received several reports of concern for the welfare of a man reportedly sleeping on the grass verge under the flyover of the M2 junction 2. Patrols attended. The male was reported to be homeless and camping in the location. He had been in the location for several days.”
When approached by the Messenger, the man did not wish to speak.
