Man taken to hospital after house fire in Long Catlis Road, Gillingham

A man has been taken to hospital after a house fire in Rainham.

Firefighters were called after the blaze broke out in the lounge of a home in Long Catlis Road in Parkwood at about 10.20am.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus put out the flames, and remained at the scene for more than four hours.

A man suffering the effects of breathing in too much smoke was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
