A man has been taken to hospital with burn injuries after a house fire broke out.
Crews were called to reports of a blaze at a terraced property in Moyle Close in Parkwood at 10.30am this morning.
Four fire engines attended the scene and crews wore breathing apparatus as they fought back the flames using hose reel jets.
One person was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, before being passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance.
A spokesman for the service said: "One man was assessed before being discharged at the scene and a second was taken to hospital with a burn."
The fire is believed to have started in a garage before spreading to the terraced house.
Neighbour Linzi Coulter saw the black plumes of smokes outside her house this morning.
She said: "I was working from my house and saw smoke gathering speed, next thing we could see flames and hear a lot of windows smashing, and small explosions."
Crews have now extinguished the flames and the incident was declared safe shortly before 1pm.
The exact cause is not yet known.
