Medieval Merriment event at Rochester Castle cancelled due to bad weather

High winds have forced the cancellation of Medieval Merriment at Rochester Castle.

The event was due to bring a range of medieval experiences to the castle grounds today and tomorrow, including men-at-arms, archery and falconry displays, while a trebuchet siege engine was also due to be fired.

But with the Met Office has announcing a yellow wind weather warning in Kent for Saturday, with 60mph winds expected, organisers decided not to go ahead.

Medway Council apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The cancellation is just one of a number of events affected across the county.
