Offices, shops and schools will fall silent at 11am today in solemn remembrance of Medway's war dead today.

The Towns will join the nation in tribute on 91 anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Armistice Day will be marked by a service at the naval war memorial on the Great Lines, Gillingham.

The service, at 11am, will be conducted by the Rev David Preston and trumpeter Tony Dennis will sound the Last Post.

Free tea and coffee will be served at the King George V pub in Brompton from 9.30am and after the service the pub will hold a buffet.

Ex-service officials are hoping that whatever people are doing they will pause for two minutes to reflect on the sacrifice given by those who gave their lives in the service of the nation.
