Police officers gave viewers an insight into life in the custody suite in a documentary aired on Monday night.

Staff from Medway police station (pictured left) featured in the first episode of Coppers on Channel 4.

Custody sergeants, detention staff and police officers making arrests gave their personal views on their jobs, and let the public in on some of the stranger things they see every day.

The third episode of the series will show patrol officers responding to 999 calls across the Towns.

One scene shows police responding to an incident where an officer is injured while making an arrest.

Chief Superintendent Steve Corbishley, area commander for Kent Police in Medway, said: "The documentary will provide a valuable insight into the whole world of policing for viewers across the country.

"Here in Medway we have extremely professional officers and staff, and the film certainly shows the human element that comes into policing a busy and diverse area such as ours.

"We have many challenges in the local area, and these are tackled very robustly by all of our officers."

In future episodes, viewers will also get a look inside the police control room at Maidstone and see how emergency calls from members of the public are handled.

Coppers is on Monday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.
