Security staff who came to the rescue of a teenager who was beaten up by another boy, have been praised for their actions by Medway Police,
Staff from the King’s Head and Jolly Knight pubs, in Rochester High Street came to the aid of a 14-year-old who had been attacked by another boy, shortly before 8pm on Saturday
He had suffered swelling to his nose and was in a distressed state, staff at pub noticed as he was trying to make his why home.
They took him into the pub and gave him first aid, made sure he was safe and called the police, which led to the arrest of two other teenagers.
PC Burt Lancaster said: “Thanks to the assistance of the staff we were able to attend and conduct a search of the area where we located a suspect.
"A 14-year-old from Strood was arrested and taken to Medway Police Station.
“He was reprimanded and warned about his future conduct.
“This incident highlights the positive steps that we are taking to work with licensees in the Rochester area.
“I believe staff went out of their way to help and this has a lot to do with the positive rapport and confidence we have been building with pubs and clubs in the town.
“We have also recently introduced Street Briefings where we can highlight any potential issues to staff before a Friday and Saturday nights.
“The boys parents have since thanked police and the staff for their actions.”
A 15-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of public order offences, was later released without charge.
