More than 1,000 children are eligible for a Medway grammar school after having taken the Medway Test.
In total, 1,126 children were assessed as eligible for a grammar school place, with 712 of those being Medway residents.
The figures from Medway Council show 2,429 children actually sat the test, of the 2,569 who were registered to take it.
Of those who sat the test, 1,761 were Medway residents and 668 were from out of the area.
The number of Medway children achieving the minimum score of 521 or above was 712 - 23 per cent of the total Medway year group, which is 3,066.
In addition, 414 children who live outside of Medway also achieved the minimum score or above.
Up to an additional two per cent of the Medway cohort for this year group (roughly 61 pupils) may also be deemed as eligible for Medway grammar schools following the parental review process.
This involves the child's work being reviewed by a panel and will take place on Wednesday October 14, for those parents who request it.
Cllr Mike O’Brien, Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, said: "Well done to all children who took the Medway Test this year.
"Moving up to secondary school from primary is a huge step and I wish them all the very best for the future and encourage them to work hard to achieve their dreams."
