Veterans gathered on Sunday to lay wreaths and remember their fallen comrades at ceremonies held across Medway.

The day started at 9am with the Royal Naval Remembrance Service at the Great Lines war memorial in Gillingham.

Those serving in the forces, ex-servicemen and women, police and civic dignitaries paid their respect at the naval memorial which commemorates the 18,500 officers, ranks and ratings of the Royal Navy who were lost or buried at sea in the two World Wars.

A two minute silence was observed while wreaths were laid at the base of the memorial.

Other services were held throughout the Towns including one at the Arethusa Old Boys Memorial, the first service to be held there since it was unveiled earlier this year.

On Saturday the Royal Marines Medway branch held their service of remembrance at Rochester Cathedral.
