Couple Sophie McCorry Day and Toby McCorry pulled on their running shoes and wedding dresses for the London Marathon.
The husband and wife team were among thousands of fundraisers who took part in the 26.2-mile race yesterday (Sunday) to raise money for good causes.
The pair, of Castle Avenue, Rochester, both wore white gowns as they ran in aid of The British Red Cross.
They got married in September and began training shortly afterwards.
Before the race, Sophie, 28, said: “We are making a stand for marriage.”
But the pair didn’t cross the finish line together.
Toby completed the course in four hours, five minutes and Sophie was not far behind with a time of four hours and 29 minutes.
Ian Cox, who is the Under 10s coach at Chatham Town Football Club, completed the course in three hours and 40 minutes.
The 40-year-old ran in aid of Medway youngster Ella Louise Carroll, aged four, who has got a rare gastric condition and is fed by a tube.
Mike Green, community officer at the club, said: “We are immensely proud to announce that Ian has finished the race in that time.
“It’s a truly incredible effort.”
Jessica Loughrey, of Montrose Avenue, Gillingham, managed to complete the course in her target time of under five hours - crossing the finish line with a minute to spare.
She was taking part in memory of her sister Emily who died of cancer in 2007 and had Emily's nickname, Embo, on her running shirt.
She said today: "I've never ached so much, but it was worth it."
All the marathon runners observed a 30-second silence to remember those affected by the bombings in Boston before they set off on their mammoth challenge.
