Medway singer Aaliyah Leishman is determined to carry on despite disappointment on ITV show X Factor.
Mid Kent College student Aaliyah, 17, impressed the judges enough to get through to the bootcamp stage but was unable to win through to the next stage.
The former Bishop of Rochester Academy pupil, of City Way, Chatham, has performed at events around Medway and now hopes to record some of her own music with former Voice finalist Jamie Johnson at Riverside One Studios Dock Road, before going on to university to study music.
She has also set up a new Facebook page www.facebook.com/aaliyahleishmanmusic, where fans can follow her progress, and took to the site to recount her experience at X Factor bootcamp.
“I spent my week with some lovely people, and it was a very long week if I may say so,” she wrote. “From dancing to singing workshops, with swollen tonsils, I stayed and finished the week, but was sadly told no. I was then called back and put in a group with some fantastic girls, where we then battled for a chair in the next stage.
“Unfortunately I don’t think I’m going to be shown at all through my journey, which is so disappointing however I can honestly say that I enjoyed (nearly) every minute of it, I’ve met some of the loveliest people ever, and even though it was a hell of a roller coaster I wouldn’t take any of it back.
“I think this experience will only make me stronger. Onwards and upwards.
“And a big thank you to every one of you that has watched in hope of seeing me! I love you all.”
