Part of Medway were gridlocked this evening after a lorry shed its load on the approach to the Medway Tunnel.

The A289 Vanguard Way, Strood, was blocked in both directions after a lorry thought to be carrying building materials shed its load at about 4.30pm.

Police stopped traffic and there were long queues through the Medway Tunnel.

The lorry was recovered and the road opened about 7pm.
