An MP has stepped in after a fatal collision raised concerns about the safety of a major road.
Rochester and Strood's Kelly Tolhurst held a meeting with Medway Council's senior managers to discuss issues with the road network on the Hoo Peninsula.
A collision on Four Elms Hill last month cost the life of Brian Durden, 69, and caused gridlock.
An investigation into safety on the A228 is being carried out by the police and council.
Ms Tolhurst and fellow Tory Cllr Phil Filmer have requested the installation of a speed camera on the road and were assured there are plans to develop a contraflow system for when traffic incidents occur.
The politicians had a virtual meeting on Friday, November 20.
The contraflow system and major road improvements have been proposed as part of the £170 million Housing Infrastructure Fund, which was given to the council to develop the area.
The issue of HGV parking on Ratcliffe Highway was also raised, with Miss Tolhurst – a vocal critic of the issues caused by Amazon's warehouse on the Peninsula – saying the retail giant has assured her it is constructing a 25-space HGV park with hygiene facilities on their site.
Last week, Hoo Parish Council wrote to Medway Council leader Cllr Alan Jarrett demanding action over lorry parking.
Ms Tolhurst said: "Cllr Filmer and I will ensure the council deliver on what they have promised within the Housing Infrastructure Fund and we will also ensure that residents are consulted every step of the way.
"Furthermore, we will also follow up the points on the lorry parking and Four Elms Hill safety as soon as possible."
