Residents in the shadow of the UK's largest natural gas plant are gearing up for a public meeting.
Medway Council is hosting the meeting over safety concerns at Grain LNG, on the Isle of Grain, which provides a fifth of the UK's gas.
A campaign by villagers in July raised questions over their only escape road, which goes within yards of compressed gas tanks the size of the Albert Hall.
Residents of the 2,000-strong village are invited to the meeting this Monday, September 12, at 7.30pm in the village hall.
It will be chaired by Cllr Mike O'Brien (Con), cabinet member for community safety, and include representatives from the Health and Safety Executive, Grain LNG and the police and fire services.
A campaign gathered momentum after resident Jack Hope, and his daughter Lisa Hood, set up a Facebook page attracting 260 supporters.
The meeting is set to follow an open day by Grain LNG bosses in the village hall from 1pm.
Terminal manager Simon Fairman had declined to attend a previous informal meeting, arguing the campaign was led by a "relatively small, concerted set of people."
