Two men were arrested after their car crashed into a concrete bollard as they tried to evade police.

The vehicle is said to have failed to stop when requested to do so by police in Knight Road, Strood, at 12.18am this morning - but crashed two minutes later, hitting a bollard in nearby Bryant Road.

Officers arrested two men near to the scene – a 22-year-old man from Chatham and a 20-year-old man of no fixed address.

The 22-year-old man was still being held in custody today and the 20-year-old was released without charge.

Enquiries remain ongoing.
