Two men tried to steal a dog from its owner on a street in Gillingham.
The pair got out of a black estate car on Grange Road near Hazelmere Drive at around 9pm last Thursday (March 18) and attempted to take the tan-coloured lurcher.
An unknown man in a white transit van drove past at the same time and shouted at the pair who made off.
They have been described as white with English accents and aged either in their late 30s or early 40s.
One of the men, who had been a passenger in the car, was wearing jeans and a hoodie.
Last week we revealed how a dog thief with a stick was bitten while trying to snatch a pet in woods near Canterbury.
It lead to owners speaking out about feeling unsafe and calling for those convicted of dog theft to face tougher sentences.
Officers investigating the incident in Gillingham are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or who may have recorded it via CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone.
