Police hunting for a woman who went missing from her home in Hoo have found a body.

Detectives had appealed for information following the disappearance of 60-year-old Sarah Grant on Thursday.

Mrs Grant, known to her family and friends as Sally, was last seen at her home in Knights Road at about 10.45am. Her family raised the alarm after she failed to turn up at an appointment later that morning.

On Thursday evening a police helicopter could be seen over the Strand area of Gillingham looking for Mrs Grant.

The body of a woman was discovered on Friday at 5.40pm at Hoo Marina.

A spokesman for Kent Police said a post-mortem examination is due to take place next week to establish the cause of death, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
