A 22-year-old man who has been missing for more than three months has been found dead in the Netherlands, police have confirmed.
Liam Graham, from Medway, was last seen walking away from a car accident in a video taken in the early hours of Saturday, July 22, in Stoke Road, between Lower Stoke and Hoo.
Police have now confirmed a body recovered in The Netherlands has been identified as belonging to Liam.
A spokesman for force said: “On Monday November 6 Kent Police was contacted by the Dutch authorities stating they had recovered the body of a man.
“On the following day, it was confirmed the body was that of Mr Graham.
“His family have since been informed and Kent Police is continuing to work with colleagues in The Netherlands to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.”
In a post on the family’s Search for Liam social media page earlier today Liam’s mum Joanne Graham said: “I just wanted to let everyone know that Liam has been found. Sadly Liam has passed.
“I just wanted to thank everyone for their help and support but please can everyone respect that me and my family need our time to process this and be together.”
Since Liam went missing family and friends have spent hours searching the area where he was last seen.
On Saturday, October 7, a wallet belonging to Liam was found on farmland.
In a statement issued to KentOnline at the beginning of August, Liam’s mother Joanne, sister Holly, and brother Christian promised the 22-year-old they would continue their search until he is back home.
“Words cannot describe the heartbreak our whole family is going through at this moment in time and it is getting harder as time goes on,” they said.
Through the power of social media, people who did not even know Liam have volunteered to search ditches and fields in the area he was last seen, while a plane has been used to fly repeatedly over the wide expanse of land.
Liam’s family previously said he had a heart condition and believe he could possibly have suffered a head injury.
