Invicta Dynamos suffered a mixed bag in ENIHL Division 1 South over the weekend but maintained a big lead atop the division.
The Mos overcame third-placed Chelmsford Chieftains for the second time this season at Gillingham Ice Bowl on Sunday evening with in-form Nolan Boike continuing his hot-streak with a fine performance in an 8-5 win.
Andy Smith and Boike, pictured, put them 2-0 ahead, only for the visitors to pull level by the end of the first period.
Boike added two more and Mark Williams and Eliot Andrews made it 6-2 by the end of the second.
Andrews made it 7-2 and despite the Essex side scoring three times to reduce the deficit, Smith scored into an empty net to complete the scoring late-on and take the Mos nine points clear of Chelmsford.
The previous evening Invicta had lost just their second game of the season when they slipped to a 6-3 defeat at the Cardiff Devils - who moved seven points behind the Mos with a game in hand.
Invicta raced into a 2-0 lead through Nicky Lewis and Nolan Boike but the home side scored four without reply before Peter Vaisanen reduced the deficit.
Another two goals from the home side secured the win for the Welsh side - who are unbeaten at home this season.
