A mother was left unconscious after she was assaulted by a stranger.
The 40-year-old, her daughter and her niece, both aged 18, were walking down Jeffery Street, Gillingham, opposite the Dog and Bone pub at 10pm on Sunday.
Suddenly two men in a black car started trying to persuade the younger women to get into their vehicle.
The mother told them to go away, then the man in the passenger seat leapt out the car and punched her in the face.
He is described as six-foot tall, with black cropped hair, a stubble beard, tanned and wearing a black tracksuit.
Her daughter said: "Mum hit the ground straight away and was badly bleeding from her head and from her mouth.
"She was lying on the pavement, after 10 minutes she finally gained consciousness when the ambulance arrived, she had no idea what had happened.
"I nearly lost my mother and I’m still petrified.
"The men drove away laughing."
The driver is described as short about five foot five inches with black hair, dark eyes, black tracksuit wearing a white top, foreign, tanned skin.
Ambulance service spokesman Rich Airey said: "We received a report of assault and sent one ambulance crew to the incident.
"She had facial injuries, was treated at the scene but sent to Medway Maritime Hospital."
Police spokesman Vicki Foster said: "Police were contacted by South East Coast Ambulance Service at 10.15pm on Sunday, November 25 to be made aware of a woman having been assaulted by a man not believed to be known to her.
"The woman was taken to a local hospital and inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."
