Crash in Woodlands Road, Gillingham, closes road and motorcyclist is taken to hospital for treatment

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after his bike was in collision with a car in a busy road in Medway.

The rider, who has not been named was injured shortly before 7am this morning when the two vehicles collided.

The emergency services were called to Woodlands Road, near its junction with Cornwallis Avenue, in Gillingham, at about 6.50am.

The road had to be closed for more than an hour while paramedics tended to the motorcyclist.

He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in the Town with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

As police were managing the traffic while the road was closed, another collision happened between a car and a bus but no one suffered any injuries during he second smash.

The road was cleared and fully reopened by about 8.25am.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called to a reported collision between a motorbike and a car in Woodlands Road, Gillingham, at 6.52am.

“The road was partially closed to ensure public safety however it had reopened by 8.24am.”
