Two lanes of a motorway have been closed this evening after a trailer overturned.

Eyewitnesses report seeing garden waste and soil spilt on the carriageway after the accident on the M2, which happened close to junction 3 for Chatham.

It is believed the trailer was being towed by a 4x4 vehicle when it toppled over and shed its load.

Traffic is slow on the Londonbound carriageway as a result of the lane closures, in place while the spill is cleaned up.
