Mark Reckless is beginning life as a married man after tying the knot at Westminster Cathedral.

The Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, was among the guests as the 40-year-old Conservative MP for Rochester and Strood married Catriona Brown.

Mr Reckless wore a black suit with a red and blue tie and a white waistcoat for the ceremony on Saturday. His bride wore a shoulder-less white dress, tiara and veil.

The role of best man was shared between Mr Reckless' brother and the MEP Daniel Hannan.

Douglas Carswell, the Conservative MP for Clacton, was usher.

The couple will now go on a two-week honeymoon to Florence, Italy - meaning Mr Reckless will miss the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, which starts today.

Mr Reckless proposed to the then Miss Brown, a lawyer originally from Scotland but who now lives in London, in June after a whirlwind romance. They first met in February.

He popped the question on the rooftop of her apartment building next to St Pancras International station, in London.

Other wedding guests included Chatham MP Tracey Crouch and the Mayor of Medway Cllr Ted Baker and his wife Sylvia.
