A member of Labour's shadow cabinet visited Medway to talk to commuters about local bus services.
Leader of the Medway Labour group Cllr Vince Maple was joined by Nia Griffith, who is Shadow Secretary of State for Defence, at Chatham bus station.
The MP for Llanelli, South Wales, said: "We have heard from people today about needing more reliable services, about needing to have more services earlier in the morning and later in the evening and having services on Sunday because Sunday is a working day for many people now.
"Fares have just gone up again on April 7 and people now are really finding them very expensive.
"Getting the feedback here, all of that really matters to our candidates so they feed that in and work out how they can make a better bus service if they can take over the council.
Cllr Andy Stamp (Lab), who was also speaking to commuters, said: "Congestion is a major issue, so what we want to do is invest in public transport, getting people out of their cars, but in order to do that, we need to make bus services more accessible to the public, more affordable but also more reliable."
