Coastguard and firefighters rescue man from mud near Medway Bridge Marina in Rochester

A man had to be rescued from the banks of the River Medway yesterday (Thursday) after getting stuck in the mud.

The Medway Coastguard team joined firefighters from Strood and Larkfield at the water’s edge to help rescue the man, who got stuck near Medway Bridge Marina in Borstal, at about 2.15pm.

Firefighters used their specialist mud rescue equipment to reach the man, who is thought to be in his 30s, and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

The coastguard team, which led the operation, said crews left the scene at about 3.30pm when the man was put in an ambulance.
