Police, fire and paramedics were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that temporarily shut the M2.

It happened London-bound between J3 (Chatham/Rochester) and J2 (Strood/Rochester).

One of the vehicles involved is said to have overturned amid heavy surface water.

Officials said at least two fire engines and an ambulance were at the scene.

It happened at 8.30pm and all vehicles had been moved to the hard shoulder by 9.05pm.

Highways England said: "All lanes have been reopened and delays are beginning to clear. Thanks for your patience."
