Mystery surrounds the" temporary closure" of a popular cake and coffee shop in a town centre.
Love Brownies which opened in Rochester High Street a year ago has been shut for business for several months.
The award-winning business which started life on a kitchen table in the Yorkshire Dales opened its second eatery in the county, making it the 14th in the UK since it was founded in 2009.
A handwritten sign has been stuck on the door saying "Temporarily closed, sorry for the inconvenience".
According to a neighbouring shopkeeper, who did not wish to be named "there has been no sign of anybody there since June".
The business is famed for its handmade chocolate brownies in a variety of flavours, brownie milkshakes, with vegan alternatives, a range of premium freshly-brewed coffees and Northern Bloc ice cream.
A ‘Dales Kitchen’ breakfast and lunch menu with options for adults and children will also be available.
At the time of the opening last August, owner and head baker Chantal Teal said: "We’re delighted to open our new shop and we’re so excited to bring our award-winning brownies and delicious Dales-inspired menu to the area.
"We’ve enjoyed great success with our Canterbury café so know Love Brownies will go down really well with the people of Kent."
The Love Brownies café is at number 24 High Street, formerly His & Hairs hairdressing salon.
