Lifeboat crew find mystery wreckage near M2 bridge

A lifeboat was launched after an upturned dinghy was discovered.

It was seen floating close to the M2 motorway bridge in Rochester yesterday around 11.40am.

The RNLI crew from Sheerness launched in response to the sighting and located the boat as well as a large piece of floating debris.

The wreckage was towed to Medway Bridge Marina where it was removed from the water with the help of the Medway Coastguard Team.

Whilst on their way back to the station, the lifeboat crew reported to the Coastguard that they saw a lot of floating debris upriver from Rochester.
