It’s the end of the road for Medway singer Joseph Apostol after being knocked out of the BBC talent show The Voice.

The 21-year-old of Shakespeare Road, Gillingham, failed to make it to next week’s final after beaten by fellow team member Mike Ward in the public vote.

On Saturday’s show, the former MidKentCollege student experienced the biggest performance of his life when he shared the stage with pop legend Sir Tom Jones, to sing a rendition of Joe South’s Games People Play.

Later he sung a solo song - Boyz II Men’s End of the Road – and received a standing ovation from the judges and audience.

Joseph said: “It feels incredible. I just love that song and I’m just happy to be here singing that song.”

After hearing his performance, coach Sir Tom Jones said: “There are four fellas in Boyz II Men, but there is one Joseph, and one Joseph is more than enough.

Fellow coach will.i.am added: “I am so happy that you sung that song. You just killed every single Filipino who sings that song. I don’t eat beef, but you deserve to have a plate of beef steak made by me for you.”

But his performance wasn’t enough to win him the public vote and host Holly Willoughby announced Joseph had been eliminated.

Speaking after he said: “I just want to say thank you to Sir Tom for giving me a chance to be here. Thank you so much.”

He later tweeted: “Thank you for all your support!!! I had a blast!!!!! Such an amazing experience!!!!”
