Enraged netminder Andy Moffat quit Invicta Dynamos’ Southern Cup game in protest at his side’s defending.

He could take no more after Romford Raiders opened up a 3-0 lead during the second period of Sunday’s match at Gillingham Ice Bowl and was replaced by David Ride.

A time-out called by head coach Kevin Parrish (pictured) triggered a reaction that saw Dynamos overturn a 4-2 deficit going into final quarter to win 6-4.

Parrish said: "Moffs had been hung out to dry by our defenders and decided to go mental.

"Goalies care about stats too and sometimes, when it’s not going well, you just want to get yourself out of there.

"The goals we conceded were so sloppy. Everybody was blaming each other and something needed to be done.

"The silly thing was we’d made a cracking start. We were good for 10 minutes, poor for the next 30, then we exploded again in the last 20 and deserved to win."

Goals from Callum Best and Canadian Peter Vaisanen gave Dynamos hope but there appeared to be no way back when the visitors scored a fourth. Mos had other ideas and stormed back, with Justin Noble, Callum Fowler (2) and Vaisanen clinching an unlikely victory.

Southern Cup Group B leaders Mos travel to second-placed Bracknell Hornets on Saturday before returning to Division 1 South League action with a home game against unbeaten leaders Wightlink on Sunday.

Dynamos will be missing Ant Lennon (broken rib) and Joe Bliss (concussion) for their weekend games.
