Housebuilder Redrow has bought a 10-acre site as part of its plans for a new £49m development.
The Temple Woods' scheme will see 130 homes constructed near Medway Valley Park in Strood next to the river overlooking Rochester.
It will neighbour the firm's 230-home Temple Wharf development, providing one- and two-bedroom apartments and three- and four-bedroom houses.
The site has outline planning consent and a building application will be submitted to Medway Council shortly.
As part of the acquisition, Redrow will contribute towards local services, including bus services, health provision, waste management and community facilities.
Redrow South East land director Glen Wells said: “We are delighted to have completed on the acquisition of this site as it enables us to continue delivering homes in this riverside location.
"Temple Wharf has proven extremely popular with 90% of the new homes sold and 196 homeowners moved in.
"This site perfectly reflects our strategy of acquiring land in well-connected locations with amenities on the doorstep.”
The site was acquired from Morgan Timber.
