Scenes from the second series of the adrenaline-fuelled BBC drama SAS Rogue Heroes were shot in familiar surroundings.
Production crews visited the county to shoot on the HMS Cavalier at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham and the nearby Fort Amherst.
The 17th-century dockyard is the most popular filming location in Kent and has recently been used as a backdrop in two Marvel TV shows, Loki and Secret Invasion, and season three of Prime Video’s drama The Great.
It is also not the first time film crews have descended on Fort Amherst, in Dock Road.
Previous productions to shoot there include series three of Netflix’s The Witcher, HBO’s The Nevers and the biographical drama about Winston Churchill, Darkest Hour.
Built during Napoleonic times to defend Medway from a land-based attack, the fort has a series of outbuildings, cannons, defensive ditches, dressed period guard quarters and atmospheric underground tunnels.
Both Chatham locations now feature in the much-anticipated second series of BBC’s SAS Rogue Heroes.
Based on the book by Ben Macintyre, the TV show follows the creation of the famed Special Forces unit of the British Army during the Western Desert Campaign of the Second World War.
Its second series focuses on their operations in the European theatre of war.
Created by Steven Knight, of Peaky Blinders fame, it stars Sex Education’s Connor Swindells, Skins and Unbroken star Jack O’Connell, Welsh actor Jacob Ifan, Algerian actress known for her role in the first Kingsman film, Sofia Boutella and The Forgotten Battle’s Theo Barklem-Biggs.
Episode one of the second series aired on BBC One on New Year’s Day.
It’s available to watch now on iPlayer.
