A new supermarket branch has opened this weekend.
Tesco Express welcomed shoppers in Limeburners Drive in Halling, at the St Andrews Park site, on Sunday (August 25).
Store manager, Joseph Pickett, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be opening this new Tesco Express so we can begin serving the community.
“I am also delighted to be opening this store with a fantastic team of colleagues, 12 of whom are newly recruited.
“This Express store will be offering a fantastic range of products, from fresh food to meal deals and our bakery.
“This store will be participating in Tesco’s Stronger Starts grant scheme, which supports schools with some extra financial help to provide healthy food and activities that boost young people’s mental and physical wellbeing.
“We encourage all of our customers to nominate a school or group for this amazing grant programme.”
Construction at the new 3,830sq ft Tesco store started earlier this year.
It is now open between 7am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday.
A 66-bedroom care home is also being built on the site, which is four miles south of Rochester.
In February, the two-acre site changed hands following a £2.88 million deal.
It was acquired by LNT Care Developments from Aspire.
LNT, which specialises in building care homes, says it expects works on site to begin this quarter before being handed over to its operating partner to open by early 2025.
