A new team of police officers is to tackle anti-social behaviour in Medway.

From Monday, September 1 a group of officers will be joining the neighbourhood police unit in Medway.

The Neighbourhood Task Team (NTT), which will consist of a sergeant and five police constables, has been introduced to support the neighbourhood team and provide a tactical response to issues which have been raised by the community.

The key roles of the team are to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour, identify public concerns and priorities and work with partners to resolve them.

The team also wants to increase and improve community links.

Money for the team has come from the Kent Police Authority as a result of successful trials elsewhere in the county.

NTT Sgt Emma Satherley said: “Everyone is really excited to be involved in a new team and are confident that we can help to improve the quality of life for residents of Medway.

"The work of neighbourhood officers and PCSOs have already made a huge difference to the community and we hope to build on this success by finding long term solutions to residents concerns.”
