It was a case of ‘no likey, no lighty’ for Nicola Watson who failed to get a date on TV show Take Me Out.
Nicola, 24, of Woodlands Road, Gillingham, appears on the programme tomorrow (Saturday).
A single man has to impress 30 single ladies in the hope one will leave their light on so they can go on a date together in the show hosted by Paddy McGuinness.
Nicola, who writes a dating blog, decided to go on the show for the experience. She said: "I’m single and I’m like London’s Carrie Bradshaw. I look for Mr Big and write articles, so the show was perfect for me."
But the ‘love lift’ didn’t bring any luck for Nicola: "You don’t realise how hurtful it is when they turn your light off. It’s national TV rejection."
There was however a date on the cards.
Nicola said: "I met up with one of the guys who turned my light off. We drove to Wales for the Take Me Out reunion but when we got there he hooked up with someone else."
Recently the programme has been accused of fixing some of the dates but Nicola believes that is not the case.
She said: "Paddy doesn’t know what the girls will say, so he has to feed off that. I’ve never met those boys before, we’ve no ideas who that guy is coming down the love lift – so you take first impressions. As far as the filming goes it is all very real and spontaneous."
Watch the show on ITV1 on Saturday at 9.05pm.
