A Nigerian man has been jailed for six months after admitting having a false identity document which he used to try and get a job as a nurse at Medway Maritime Hospital back in April.
The NHS fraud unit found Victor had provided bogus references and that his leave to remain document and bio data pages in his Nigerian passport were false.
The 25-year-old of Snowdrop Path in Romford, Essex came to the UK on a visitors visa on the March 30 2004 but had not left the country when it expired or tried to apply to the Home Office to stay.
Aiyeola was arrested at the hospital on 5 August 2009 on what should have been his first day at work.
Keith Michel, a police sergeant from the UK Border Agency Joint Immigration and Crime team said: "We do not tolerate document fraud and treat this type of crime very seriously. We are committed to working with our partner agencies to ensure those responsible are prosecuted. The NHS fraud unit are to be congratulated on their work for this case. "
