All too often youths in the Towns get a bad reputation, but thanks to the Medway Youth Awards, there is a chance to highlight those who are achieving great things and are dedicated to the community.
The annual awards, which is run by Medway Youth Council, has launched for 2019 and the nominations are now open.
If you know a remarkable young person age between 11 and 18 or with additional needs up to the age of 24, then you can nominate them in one of the categories.
The categories include, community participation, volunteering, sports, creativity, youth worker of the year and awards which recognise the contribution of adults working with young people in Medway.
There is two new awards up for grabs this year, personal challenge and development and team recognition.
Thomas Baldock, chairman of Medway Youth Council, said: “Thanks again to everyone who supported us last year in making our dream a reality.
"We strongly believe that this type of celebration is so important for young people and the community.
"We see first-hand the real impact young people are making in their personal and professional lives across Medway, and cannot wait to share these good news stories.”
Cllr Andrew Mackness, portfolio holder for children’s services, said: “We’re thrilled to be celebrating the second year of the Medway Youth Awards.
"This is a great opportunity to recognise Medway’s incredible young people and those who make a real difference in our communities.
"We hope these awards encourage more young people in Medway to get involved and make a difference in their local community.”
Nominations will close on Tuesday, April 30.
Medway Youth Awards will take place on Tuesday, July 9 at Priestfield Stadium, in Redfern Avenue, Gillingham.
