A total of 315 people have been nominated for elections in Medway on May 5.

The majority - 212 - will stand for election in the 22 borough wards.

The remaining 103 are seeking election to parish councils, though it is expected most will be returned unopposed because there are iunsufficient candidates for the 11 parishes.

For the first time in many years both the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have candidates for the parishes.

The names of nominees will not be released by Medway Council until tomorrow (Wednesday).
