A primary school has retained its “good” Ofsted grading six years after it was last judged.
Temple Mill Primary School, in Cliffe Road, Strood, maintained its previous inspection result following a recent visit by the education watchdog.
Inspectors noted “Pupils are rightly proud of their nurturing and inclusive school” and “they love coming to school and enjoy learning”.
Staff were also praised for knowing the pupils “very well” and there was evidence of “strong and trusting relationships”.
The report also praised the school for its inclusion of those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
It described pupils as having ”very positive attitudes to learning” while lessons were seen as “purposeful”, as well as being ”calm, ordered and supportive”.
Good attendance and behaviour was highlighted as helping pupils to learn well.
The report adds: “The school has worked with real determination to successfully improve attendance and punctuality over time.”
The single-form entry school, which joined The Howard Academy Trust in December 2015, was praised for developing “independence, resilience and life-long learning skills” with ‘Talking Point’ assemblies described as a way to help pupils to “listen and appreciate the opinions of others even if they do not agree with them”.
Other highlights of the report noted the school’s many leadership opportunities for pupils, its “broad and ambitious” curriculum, and the “purposeful” and “calm, ordered and supportive” lessons, delivered by “a strong team who are proud and happy to work at the school”.
One area the school was advised to improve on was embedding refinements to the curriculum fully in all subjects “to ensure that all pupils consistently achieve as well as they can”.
Lisa Lewis, principal at Temple Mill Primary School, said “We are delighted with the outcome of this inspection and thrilled that so many of our most valued qualities have been recognised in the report.
“The children and staff, and our families, at Temple Mill have worked through a very challenging year and have been able to show what an amazing and resilient team we are. I am very proud of us all.”
Owen McColgan, chief executive of The Howard Academy Trust, said “I am delighted that the inspection recognised the brilliant work that takes place at Temple Mill Primary School every day, and highlighted some of the specific qualities that I know Temple Mill takes great pride in.
“Staff within the school are passionate about making sure that every child at Temple Mill reaches their full potential.”
