Police have thanked two members of the public who helped them arrest a man in Chatham.
They were called to the Pentagon shopping centre following reports of a possible fraud inside a shop.
An officer from the Medway Community Policing Team, and a Police Community Support Officer, attended the scene and detained a man in the High Street.
During the arrest a struggle took place and the police officer suffered minor injuries as a result.
As the arrest was being made, two members of the public came to the officer’s aid.
It happened at around 4pm on Wednesday.
Rishi Nankani, 29 from Selhurst, London, has since been charged with possessing an article for use in fraud, resisting a constable in the execution of their duty and criminal damage.
He has been bailed to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 5.
