It was a bitter sweet battle for Medway’s Hannah Wildes on The Voice tonight as she faced her close friend, Autumn Sharif.
The friends sang Alicia Keys’ If I Ain’t Got You but their mentor Kaiser Chiefs Ricky Wilson picked Autumn.
Despite losing out to her new friend, fortune was smiling on Hannah as new judge, pop star Rita Ora, used her last remaining steal to save her.
The 24-year-old from Walderslade said “When we were paired we didn’t really know each other but we’ve become really close friends.
“It was a great song choice and we both wanted to do it justice.”
She said the night before the battle rounds they had been talking in the hotel: “We didn’t care who lost, we both just went all out to do our best and hoping someone gets a steal.
“I would have been really upset for her and it would have taken away from the glory so it was the best result we could have asked for.”
The week of the battles mentor Ricky gave all his team handwritten notes.
In his letter to Hannah he said: “Technically, I don’t think vocally anyone can touch you. I need you to know that you have that sorted.
“There is nothing for you to worry about. Just grab this opportunity and take it as far as you can. I feel you deserve this.”
Hannah, who works in a dermatology unit in Borough Green, said it was a really sweet gesture and showed he isn’t just there as a face.
On now being a member of Team Rita, she said: “She’s on top of the game and the biggest pop star in the country at the moment so to work with her is really cool.”
