A man attempted to put out a fire in his garden with a hose but strong winds saw it blow out of control.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Magwitch Close, Rochester, at 12.59am.
The owner of the property was in his garden when crews arrived, trying to put out a pile of vegetation with his garden hose.
But strong winds caused the flames to blow out of control.
Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze within around 15 minutes.
The vegetation had been initially cut down to be burned, so firefighters gave the man advice about safety when burning vegetation.
