A series of overnight closures are set for a busy stretch of the A2 as resurfacing works are carried out.
Chatham Hill will be closed from Rock Avenue to the junction with Whitehorse Hill from 8pm tonight until 6am.
A diversion will be in place via Ash Tree Lane, Capstone Road and Luton Road and vice versa.
Once complete, engineers from Medway Council will then move on to resurface the Luton Arches roundabout.
Work here will start on Thursday with a full road closure in place between 8pm and 6am for two nights.
A diversion will take drivers via The Brook, Dock Road, Wood Street, Canterbury Street and Rock Avenue and vice versa.
In a letter to residents, Medway Council said: “To undertake the work, a full road closure is required, including the suspension of on-street parking for the period of the planned work.
“Vehicle lifting equipment may be used to ensure the road space is available.
“Please ensure all vehicles and obstructions are cleared from the highway in these locations for the duration of the work, including skips and trailers.”
Residents are warned there may be times when they cannot access their driveways but contractors on site will be able to assist if safe to do so.
The letter added: “Resurfacing works are by their nature noisy, and it would be expected that higher levels of noise will be experienced during the works.
“Every effort will be made to keep the disturbance to a minimum and the council apologises in advance, for any inconvenience this may cause.”
