An overturned car was left abandoned in the road, with no driver or passengers to be seen.

Patrick Burgess discovered the car at 5am on Waterworks Hill, in Walderslade Road.

He said: "The lights were still on, and I wasn't sure if this had just happened, so I checked the car.

"Luckily there was no one inside. it looks like they escaped."

Police had attended the scene earlier at 4am.

They found no one inside the car, and no injuries have been reported.
