A teenager has appeared in court charged in connection with two robberies.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of attacks against two men in Rushdean Road, Strood.
Cash, two mobiles, a set of headphones and bank cards are said to have been stolen after the victims were threatened with a knife. The incidents happened on November 4.
The teenager, who is from Bermondsey, south east London, was arrested on suspicion of the offences last Thursday.
He was later charged with two counts of robbery and possessing a knife in a public place.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, where he was released on bail to next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on December 17.
Co-defendant Matthew Steers was previously charged with the same three offences.
The 30-year-old, of Sycamore Road, Strood, is additionally alleged to have assaulted a member of staff at a petrol station in New Road, Chatham, on Tuesday last week after re-fuelling a car and failing to pay for it.
A vehicle matching its description was then stopped in Jeffrey Street at around 1.40am the next day, after coming to the attention of a police patrol.
The occupant, however, is said to have run from the car and Steers was subsequently arrested nearby.
Steers was charged with common assault, making off without payment, driving without due care and attention, failing to stop when requested to do so by an officer, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on December 17.
