A section of a department at Medway Maritime Hospital was temporarily closed last night after a leak.

A blocked drain meant that patients were moved to a different waiting area in A&E at around 7.15pm, in the Gillingham hospital in Windmill Road.

Patients waited in this area while the issue was resolved and the problem, which was described as minor, was sorted by 9.30pm.

A source said no patients were affected.
