A section of a motorway was shut after a crash, which led to a woman being hospitalised.

The eastbound carriageway was closed today (Sunday) between slip roads at the M2 Junction 4 at Gillingham.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We were called at 5.30pm on Sunday, September 26, following a two-car collision on the M2 coastbound at Junction 4.

"Officers attended and one woman was taken to hospital as a precaution. The road was closed until around 7pm."

Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called out at exactly 5.36pm but left just before 6.20pm.

A spokesman said: "We were called to assist at the scene of a crash involving two vehicles on the M2 coastbound near Junction 4 for Gillingham. Two fire engines attended, however no action from crews was required."
