Upchurch drink driver Sian Adam reported after passenger called 999 on way back from Man of Kent in Rochester

A woman who drank three pints of lager before giving her friend a lift home from the pub has been banned from driving – after he called the police.

Sian Adam and her male friend had been to see a gig at the Man of Kent in John Street, Rochester, but as she drove to his house a row broke out when he realised she had drunk more than she should have.

The man dialled 999 and when police caught up with Adam she was walking away from her Ford Focus leaving her friend still in the passenger seat. He told them Adam had been driving and that the handbrake had been pulled up at one point as they argued and she got upset.

Adam, 27, of Croisier Court, Upchurch, appeared before Medway magistrates on Monday when she admitted driving while over the legal limit.

The court heard Adam was given a breath test and gave a reading of 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, almost twice the legal limit of 35.

Debbie Jones prosecuting, said: “He was getting a lift back with her and she was driving when an argument ensued.

“When interviewed about the matter she said she’d had three pints of lager. She is of previous good character.”

Adam said: “I know what I have done is wrong and I was stupid.

“It was out of character and I put everyone’s life in danger.”

Magistrates disqualified her from driving for 18 months, fined her £250 and ordered she pay £85 costs.
